Ada Twist, Scientist, by Andrea Beaty

A 32-page illustrated children’s book that is written in prose. It really depicts how Ada Marie Twist, an African American second grader grew inquisitive about how things worked in her environment, sometimes to the chagrin of her parents. She constantly asked questions when she didn’t understand something. This is the true nature of a scientist. While it took some time, her parents finally understood that her nature to question things helped her learn. Each page has wonderful illustrations that are perfect for little children to identify with even if they aren’t ready to read.

  • Ideal for early elementary school children

  • A great starter book with related books which make children inquisitive about topics and project- based approach. Related books: Iggy Peck, Architect; Rosie Revere, Engineer; The Why Files; Project books
